A Historic Day for Albertans!

On May 4, 2026 I attended the Elections Alberta office to witness one of, if not the most important historical event in Alberta's history. The delivery of 301,620 signatures of patriotic, freedom loving Albertans by Mitch Sylvestre of Stay Free Alberta demanding a referendum for Alberta to become an independent nation.

All of us, first as Albertans, and secondly as members of The Independence Party of Alberta must continue to engage in discussions with other Albertans extolling the benefits of becoming an independent nation, free from the tyranny of the authoritarian government in Ottawa so we can ensure a clear majority vote for independence by Albertans.

On behalf of The Independence Party, I want to thank every Albertan that participated in gathering signatures, and to those patriots who recognize the coming tyranny from Ottawa, for signing the petition. This tyrannical federal government has irrevocably damaged democracy within Canada, through the tyrannical conduct of freezing bank accounts of supporters of the Freedom Convoy during covid. What Albertans don't need to fear is how you vote in October. Your ballot will be secret, no different than any other election so you can vote yes to leaving Canada and forming our own independent nation.

The Laurentien elites have made Canada a country we do not want to be part of. The Canadian government has betrayed Albertans. They do not represent us, they loath us, and they look at us as second class citizens who do not deserve a say. Yesterday, through Mitch Sylvestre's hard work we have begun the process of change to better the lives of all Albertans!

It will now be up to Albertans to hold our provincial government accountable. This means we expect a referendum with a 'clear' question on independence, not one that is muddied by provincial politicians that are federalists first and don't believe the people of Alberta should have a right to be heard.

While we thank Mitch Sylvestre for all of his hard work in educating and organizing the campaign to gather the required signatures to hold a referendum, there is no proof that by supporting the UCP Albertans will see independence come to fruition. There is no proof that the majority of UCP MLA's either support, or will vote in favor of independence should the majority of Albertans vote to become an independent nation.

The Premier has repeatedly stated she will do what she can to shut the 'separatist movement' down as she is a federalist and her Justice Minister amended the Referendum Act to make this referendum 'non-binding' on the government. We are wary of the UCP for these reasons.

Although we hope the government of Alberta does the right thing, Albertans may soon find that The Independence Party is the only true alternative as our sole mandate is to transition Alberta into a free, independent Alberta.
